Two years ago, for her 2007 summer/spring catalog, designer Mirit Weinstock came up with a playful and innovative idea: to let artistic chic ladies from all over the world take self portraits of themselves wearing her designs.
A meticulous, though enjoyable, browsing through Flickr led her to five talented unknown photographers, whom she approached with her suggestion. The response was one of sheer excitement, and the project went under way. But Weinstock didn’t stop there. The catalog was such a success, that she decided to expand the project, and launched the full blown Miss Mi project through her web site in 2009. In the site, Visitors can apply to become a Miss Mi girl, and take part in the project (I have) which gave birth to a huge variety of extremely creative and beautiful portraits, which together amount to an interesting and pleasurable statement on photography, fashion, self portraits, womanhood and of course on Weinstock’s designs.
Weinstock, an Israeli, trained in London with Alexander McQueen and in Paris with Alber Elbaz at Lanvin, before starting her own line. Her clothes and accessories are also carried by
